Demo Day 1

The day has come! We are homeowners again. We closed Friday morning, and drove straight to the new home to change the locks and start some demo work. Here's a look at Friday's achievements.

This is the formal dining area when you first walk in the front door. We will use it as the living room. We succeeded in tearing out the carpet and padding, we still need to rip out the fiber board that was underneath. It is starting to bow in places.

This is the Harry Potter closet in the home's original living room. We will use the room as a library/music room. We pulled the paneling off, which completely ruins the plaster underneath. It's not so important here since we are seriously considering knocking the staircase out and flipping it around, but I'm not sure what we plan on doing with the rest of the paneling in room.

Here's the kitchen. We got the drop ceiling tiles pulled out, and Sunday's goal is to get the framing pulled out as well.

Here's the library. We pulled out the drop ceiling completely in this room.

This is the spare room. We pulled the carpet out, but still need to get the light fixtures down.

Some of our crap pile!
 Our new door knobs!
And here's the house with day 1's demo pile outside!

We also ripped out the carpet on the stairs.

Saturday was filled with Avery and Henna's birthday party, and a quick tour around the property with extended family. Sunday we will continue to demo. It's an exhausting weekend!
